We are totally smitten with these beautiful rare vintage Japanese wooden Kokeshi dolls, each with a UNIQUE gorgeous hand painted pattern print, blossom, flowers or alike, symbols of peace and harmony. They look great either on their own or grouped, pop them on the mantelpiece, fireplace or a shelf they just look so at home wherever you place them.
Kokeshi Dolls are thought to originate from Northern Japan in the early 19th century. They were traditionally carved to have a simple trunk with no arms or legs just a head and are hand painted.
Traditionally they were given to children by their grandparents to wish them a safe, happy & long life, we love this story!
